Zagato Coupe
Key Points: 1 of 99 Vanquish Zagato Coupes, Lava Red Exterior Paint, Herringbone Carbon Fibre Interior Fascia. Aston Martin’s relationship with the Italian design house and coachbuilder ‘Zagato’ began when technical director Gianni Zagato met with Aston Martin’s David Brown and John Wyer at the 1960 Geneva Motor Show, and the companies soon agreed to collaborate on the DB4 GT Zagato, which was a lighter, more aerodynamic version of the DB4 GT. Almost six decades and countless collaborations later, including Zagato versions of the V8, DB7 and V12 Vantage, the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato was unveiled at the Concorso and Eleganza Villa and Este at Lake Como, Italy in May 2016. A limited-production version of the second-generation Aston Martin Vanquish, its individually numbered production run consists of 99 coupés, 99 convertibles (Volantes) and 99 shooting brakes, as well as 28 speedsters, for a total of 325 cars. The Vanquish Zagato is powered by the same 5.9-litre ‘AM29’ V12 as the Vanquish S, which produces 595 hp and 465 lb ft of torque, and allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 201 mph. The Zagato variant has a firmer ride, a more open exhaust, ‘Z’ detailing in the cabin, and handcrafted carbon fibre bodywork featuring Zagato’s signature ‘double bubble’ roof and wraparound glass.
